Three young men, Riley Jones, Corey Fisher and William Stimson combined to place third in their section.
The two lap sprint saw William place fourth in 26.3, but unfortunately Corey pulled a muscle to finish his day, although he had been so well placed that he still hobbled home in 28.7 for sixth place.
Riley was in good form, adding two cms to his pb in the standing long jump with 2.46 for third place ahead of William in fourth with a pb of 2.40. These two then produced good results in the shot, Riley second with 10.63 and William fourth with 8.57. Riley also scored 63 in the speed bounce for third place.
The end of the day saw the overall team scores as below:
Chesterfield – 519
AVEAC – 413.5
Derby – 329
High Peak – 218.5
We hope we can improve our turn out at the next match on 4th February and challenge Chesterfield more closely. At this match we had 31 athletes whilst 66 turned out for Chesterfield, so a few more athletes could make all the difference!
Finally, I must thank all the officials for helping the meeting run so smoothly, parents for transporting the athletes, the team managers for ensuring everyone made their event on time, coaches for ensuring the athletes were fit and the results team for getting these out so quickly! Put February 4th in your diary now!!!
