Decathlon Gold For Ben Pitts

Over the weekend of 23^rd and 24^th August one of AVEACs senior athletes, Ben Pitts, was in action at the Steel City Rising Stars competition held at the Sheffield Hallam University City Athletics Stadium.

Having qualified and subsequently withdrawn through injury for both the England Athletics Championships and a World Tour event in Hexham earlier this year, this time Ben was able to avoid the niggling injuries that have plagued his season and made it through his decathlon in style.

Setting new personal bests in three of the ten disciplines, along with season best performances in a further three, Ben amassed a total of 6,572 points (another personal best) to claim the top step of the podium and head home with the gold medal.
