First year Under 15 athlete Isla Hiscocks has had a really good spate of form during the last couple of weeks. On Tuesday night she shattered her 200m personal best recording a time of 27.46 seconds at the latest DADA Open meeting at Moorways. Competing in Race 3, her time knocked almost half a second off her previous best set at the July DADA event and comes on the back of a PB Long Jump set last week at Doncaster and victory in the 100m at the Charnwood ‘Stars of the Future’ recently.
The DADA meeting which caters for all age groups from U11 to Senior had several other AVEAC athletes in action and more personal bests were recorded during the evening.
Decathlete Scott Ram was in excellent form recording two best ever performances over the 100m and 800m. At the start of the evening he lowered his 100m PB to 11.29 seconds in the Senior Men’s race when finishing in sixth place; a race that was won by GB International hurdler Seamus Derbyshire (City of Stoke) who returned a quick 10.67 seconds. An hour later, Scott lined up for the 800m Race1 and went on to cross the line in first place. Scott’s time of 1:59:26 was his first time under 2 minutes and beat his previous best set in 2020 by almost three seconds. Madeleine Turner also lined up for the 800m Race 2 where she placed 5th with a solid time of 2:36:69, just over a second down on her best ever.
AVEAC were well represented in the 75m sprints by our U13 and U11 athletes. In Race 1, Betsy Wilton finished 2nd recording 11.26 seconds and was closely followed by Jacob Adam’s in 4th and Isla Douglas in 5th, both finishing with identical times of 11.73 seconds. In Race 2, Summer Biggs placed 4th with a new personal best of 12.02 seconds while in Race 5, Rosie Boyer and Ruby Shore returned times of 13.72 seconds and 13.89 seconds.
In the longer sprint races, Jasmine Shore placed 3rd in the 100m Race 4 in 14.58 seconds with Olivia Irvine a couple of places behind in 16.24 seconds; Jasmine also contested the 200m Race 3 placing 6th in 30.06 seconds. In the same race Ryan Ghai recorded a new personal best of 28.82 seconds in 5th place. In Race 6, Betsy Wilton’s time of 31.54 was also a PB and placed her 3rd.
Five of our younger athletes contested the 600m races. Under 11s Isla Douglas and Summer Biggs finished 3rd and 4th in Race 2 with times of 2:12:01 and 2:12:14 respectively while Rosie Boyer in 6th place recorded 2:20:26. In Race 3 Jacob Adams ran well in 3rd place and was rewarded with a new best time of 2:11:54. Olivia Irwin claimed 1st place in Race 4 timed at 2:22:86 while in Race 5, Ruby Shore’s time was 2:40:56.
The only field event during the evening was the Long Jump for the U11 and U13 athletes. Jacob Adams finished 2nd in the Boy’s contest with a good effort of 3.66m. Summer Biggs was the top U11 in the Girl’s competition where she finished 2nd with a leap of 3.41m. In the same event, Isla Douglas jumped a PB of 3.00m, Rosie Boyer’s best was 2.32m and Ruby Shore’s effort was 2.05m.
