The raffle during the evening which will go towards the purchase of club equipment raised £290 and thanks is due to everyone who bought a ticket and to the generosity of local businesses and organisations who sponsored the prizes. A special thanks to Becky Moss for coordinating the raffle tickets on the evening.
A huge amount of effort went into organising the event and on behalf of all the athletes and parents the club would like to especially thank Dan Humphries, who meticulously planned the proceedings to ensure that everything ran smoothly. Thanks to Janine Bonser for taking photographs on the night of many of the award winners and to Richard Woodward for acting as Master of Ceremonies. Thanks to the coaches who spoke about the athletes as they were presented with their awards – Jayesh Dave, Julie Feeney, Joe McColgan, Scott Knighton, Richard Woodward and Geoff Lowry. A massive thanks as well to our Olympian Jess Turner who took time off her busy training schedule to present the awards.
Finally it would be amiss not to mention Bob Boyd, who stepped down as Chair recently. Due to his long service with the club since it was formed in 1999, it was fitting that the Committee honoured Bob by conferring upon him a new role as Club President. At the end of the evening, Jayesh Dave, the new Club Chair, presented Bob with a framed AVEAC vest in recognition of the time and commitment he has put in to developing the club over the years.
