Our four U15 girls in action placed first in a range of event disciplines througout the day. It all started with Jasmine Shore winning the 75m hurdles in an admirable time of 13.9 seconds. Madeleine Turner who has had a super season this year continued on her winning ways. She outpaced her rivals in the 800m  with a time of 2:28.6 while in the 300m she had over two seconds to spare on the runner up. Turning her attention to the A discus later in the day she also secured mximum points in that event.

Two further first places were set by Isabella Higgins in the B shot and Ailsa McMillan in the B 200m. Isabella had fine efforts in the A long jump and A 100m finishing third in the former and fourth in the latter. Ailsa added to the AVEAC points tally placing second in the B 100m and third in the high jump.

The four girls then teamed up to take the 4 x 100m relay ahead of Bicester and Daventry.

Joe Moss who has been unbeatable a cross a range of different disciplines in the under 13 age group so far this year, stepped up a level to test his mettle against under 15 athletes.  Undaunted by his older peers, he had an outstanding effort in the A long jump of 5.16m, a new personal best, to take maximum points.  Another PB followed when winning the A 200m, speeding through the half lap in 26.5 seconds.  In the discus Joe was also was in good form placing first in the B pool.

Corey Fisher showed excellent sprint form with second place finishes in both the A 100m and A 300m. He showed marked improvement in both races with times of 12.4 seconds in the shorter sprint and 41.1 seconds in the longer one.

The talented foursome who earlier in the year set a national indoor 4 x 200m record had little trouble in winning the sprint relay.  With good baton exchanges throughout the race they recorded a time of 52.1 seconds crossing the line with thirty metres to spare on second placed Witney AC.

Throughout the three match series Team AVEAC have performed well together covering as many events as possible to ensure good points scores. They have thorougly deserved to become champions and will next year step up a division. They will be trying emulate this year’s performances, pushing for further promotion in 2024. As always thanks are due to the team managers and parent officials for their sterling efforts across the the three fixtures. Without their help and support, competitions like this would not happen!
