The third and final match of the season, took place on Sunday 6th July, 2025 at Paula Radcliffe Stadium, at Loughborough University. Following the recent heatwave, the weather broke dramatically with torrential downpours first thing in the morning, temperatures were cooler but improved conditions to compete in. The weather soon settled, although the sky remained threatening.
Under 17 Men
Will Stimson opened with a strong performance in the long jump, jumping out to 5.43m. Later in the day he competed in the triple jump with a jump of 11.11m.
Corey Fisher was our B string long jumper and jumped 5.29, a new PB. He also achieved a PB in the 400m running a good race in 55.8 s. He returned to the track to compete in the 200m, finishing in 24.2.
Next up was the dependable Riley Jones. He started the day in the cage throwing the discus out to 34.1m to win the event. Getting the discus out the cage was a great achievement after the last 2 matches! He returned shortly afterwards to throw the shot put. Again winning the event with a throw of 11.98m.
Our fourth U17 male was Ryan Ghai, competing in the upper age group for the first time. He started his day in the B string discus and was rewarded with a PB of 21.45. He then competed in the triple jump, hop, skip and jumping out to 11.54m. his third event was another PB of 29.02 in the javelin,
The U17 men teamed up in the 4 x 100m relay, running 48.4, an improvement from Match 1 and claimed a solid third place.
Under 17 Women
Jasmine Shore started for the women in the 300m hurdles. She came home in a respectable time of 57.8. She later stormed to victory in the 80m hurdles in a time of 13.8, a new PB. Her last individual event was the javelin, where she threw 19.89m.
Madeleine Turner was next up for the women and started in superb style in the 1500m. She ran a personal best time of 4.37.7, almost 30 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. This is a grade 9 time and just 1 second shy of the club record held since 2008. This will be in Madeleines sight when she next competes. Following the early success Madeleine was next up in the 200m, where she ran a good time of 27.1. her subsequent event was the high jump, where she jumped 1.38m.
The next woman up was Leah Parkin in the 100m, she ran a competitive race finishing in a time of 13.6. She was soon out again, competing in her first long jump competition, she was struggling with her run up but she completed the competition with a best jump of 3.85m. Leah then ran a good 200m race in a time of 28.0.
The final U17 woman was Ailsa McMillan, struggling with injury, Ailsa opted to solely focus on shot put, her best throw was 7.38m.



















Under 20 Men
Our sole U20 male was Sebastian Banks. Also nursing an injury, Seb started with long jump. He jumped out to 4.89m. With little time to recover he was straight over to the 100m, running a superb race which resulted in a 12.0s PB. His final event was the 200m where he ran a time of 24.2. A gutsy performance all round.
Under 20 Women
This final match saw just one women in the U20s. Nicole Bonser, ever determined to help out the team, selected 5 events to compete in. The first was the 100m, where she ran a fast race, rewarded by a seasons best time of 13.2. Shortly afterwards she was at the long jump, jumping out to 4.72m. Her third event was the 200m, where she ran another good time of 27.5. Her fourth choice of events took her out of her comfort zone but unfortunately she was unable to record a mark in the javelin.
In Nicole’s fifth event she was joined by Madeleine, Leah and Jasmine in the 4 x 100m U20 relay. The women came second in 53.4, beating the time they set at the county championships earlier this season.
Summary
Despite fielding the smallest squad of the season at just 10, AVEAC earned 200pts, our highest of the season and finished in 5th place. The team finished in 7th place overall. Following the end of the Upper YDL season, team manager, Janine Bonser would like to thank all the athletes and parents for their support across the three matches. It has been a pleasure to watch the highs and lows across the season but in particular the support and encouragement that you give each other. Well done Team AVEAC.
